Native Bee Hotels

Bees native to the suburban southeast such as the Blue Orchard Mason Bee (Osmia lignaria) and the Leaf-cutter Bee (Megachilidae) are exceptional pollinators. In fact, they are 120 times more effective at pollinating blossoms than European Honeybees

Native bees are easy to raise, gentle toward humans (do not sting!) and fascinating to watch as they build their nests.

Providing an attractive, viable nesting option for these ‘super-pollinators’ is not only good for the environment but will provide you with endless hours of entertainment as they work tirelessly to fill their nesting tubes.

Our native bee hotels come in a variety of bee-preferred shapes and colors. We use only the highest quality, natural phragmite reeds, as these nesting tubes are a favorite of the bees and protect them well from predators and inclement weather.

Seasonally (October-May) we also carry mason bee cocoons. They are sold in ‘Starter Packs’ which include a mix of male and female hibernating adults.  Once hatched, each female will fill about 3 tubes with approximately 6-9 eggs in each. Not sure when to release your bees?  Check out our Native Bee Hotel Information Sheet.
